Eligibility & Enrollment
1. Am I eligible for benefits as a new member? Are there waiting periods?
All RTA members (0.5FTE or above) are eligible for RTA Benefit Fund benefits provided that they are here for a full year. Partial-year leave replacements are given benefits on the first day of the first full month that they work in the District, provided that they will be here for three consecutive months.

2. Can my spouse/dependents use these benefits?
Yes! As long as they were added to the plan when you filled out your enrollment form. If you had a marriage, divorce, separation, new child, etc., you may fill out an additional enrollment form and send it to Erik at [email protected].

3. How do I update my dependent information?
You must fill out a new enrollment form (available on the homepage/member portal page of this website) and send it to Erik at [email protected]. This also applies if you need to update your address.

$800 Reimbursement Program
4. What expenses are eligible for reimbursement?
Reimbursable categories are listed on our website's program page. Medical co-pays are not eligible.

5. When can I submit a reimbursement for the $800 benefit?
You can submit once you've incurred the $800 expense and met the coverage requirements (including any waiting periods for life insurance claims). Note: We will not process partial claims under $800 until after December 31st of the calendar year.

6. What documents do I need to submit for an $800 Reimbursement claim?
You must provide both proof of payment and proof that no other coverage has already reimbursed it. Typically, this includes:
a receipt or statement from a provider and an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from Dental Insurance or Vision Insurance showing what they have already reimbursed. All other information can be found on the $800 Reimbursement page.

7. How long does it take to receive a reimbursement?
The $800 Reimbursement Claim is typically reimbursed within one month (though often quicker). There are occasional times throughout the year when it may take slightly longer, but we do our best to process quickly. Note: We do not control Dental and Vision claims—ASO and GVS handle those respectively.

Insurance Coverage
8. What dental insurance provider do we use?
We're a self-insured plan (we pay claims directly). ASO (Administrative Services Only) handles administrative services. For claim questions or to view participating providers, visit asonet.com.

9. I received treatment from an out-of-network dentist and paid $800 out of pocket. Can I get reimbursed?
Yes, possibly. Have the dentist submit a claim to ASO. They'll pay up to their contracted amount and send you an EOB (Explanation of Benefits) showing what you owe. We can reimburse the amount on the EOB if it falls under an eligible category.

10. A participating vision provider couldn't find me in the system. What should I do?
First, verify you're providing the correct ID: 5555 + your Employee ID (providers may ask for a Social Security number). To prevent issues:
Check the GVS website to confirm you and your dependents are registered, contact the provider ahead of time to verify coverage, and if problems persist, email Erik at [email protected].

11. I forgot my website password.
We now are using one password for all password-protected page of the website. The password was sent to you by Wendy on 1/7/26. If you cannot locate it, and another RTA member was not able to give it to you, email Erik at [email protected].

12. Who do I contact with other questions or problems?
You may contact Erik at [email protected] or Wendy at [email protected].
